Am I being too judgmental?
I went on a really nice date today and it was such a breath of fresh air after some recent fails. I like so many things about this guy. I like that he’s kinda nerdy and sweet, but also quite attractive in a quirky hipster kind of way and a really hard worker. But there were some things that came up in conversation where I really wanted to be like really?! I shouldn’t judge, especially after just a few hours of talking, but sometimes I just can’t help myself. I now present to you…
Things that turn me off in general (I swear it’s not just him)
- People who don’t read broadly and often
- People who take forever and a day to get through college—it’s a waste of money
- People who have never ever traveled anywhere (and I mean anywhere). At some point it’s not a money thing—it’s a finding a way and pushing your comfort-zone thing
- People who are not really up on current events/politics
- People who are still friends with the exact same people they knew in high school
Not bad things, just things that stick out to me. Because I have just lived a really different life, growing up a certain way with certain values about education and exploration and the resources to go with them, and sometimes I think it’s hard to see past the gap.
